Roger That
User Manual
Welcome to RogerThat, your AI-powered aviation radio trainer. This guide covers everything from your first setup to mastering complex airspace.
A. Getting Started
Permissions: Upon first launch, you must grant permission for Microphone and Speech Recognition. Without these, the AI cannot hear you.
Onboarding: Complete the brief tutorial to calibrate your microphone and understand the feedback system.
B. The Learning Path
The app is divided into Chapters. You must complete scenarios to unlock subsequent content.
Modules: Each chapter contains specific learning modules (e.g., "Requesting Flight Following"). Scenarios: The actual role-play exercises. Checkrides: The final exam for a chapter. You must pass this to unlock the next chapter.
C. How to Use a Scenario
Read the Objective: Before starting, read what is expected of you (e.g., "Request a taxi to the active runway").
Listen to ATC: The AI Controller will initiate contact or wait for you, depending on the scenario.
Push to Talk:
Tap the Microphone Button when you are ready to speak.
Speak clearly and use standard aviation phraseology.
Tap the button again to finish your transmission.
Receive Feedback: The AI will process your call.
Pass: You gain XP and the conversation continues.
Fail: You will receive specific feedback on what went wrong.
D. The Economy System
RogerThat uses two types of currency:
Hearts (❤️): Used to attempt scenarios.
If you fail a response or make a mistake, you lose a Heart.
Hearts regenerate automatically over time.
Tip: You can trade Hearts for Credits if you have an excess amount.
Credits (✨): Used for AI Evaluations. Every time you send a voice message to the AI, it costs Credits (due to server costs).
You start with a free allocation.
You can purchase more Credits via the "Profile" tab.
Credits never expire as long as your account is active.
E. Ranks and Logbook
XP: You earn Experience Points for correct responses.
Ranks: As you gain XP, you will promote from Student Pilot -> Private Pilot -> Commercial -> ATP -> Captain.
Logbook: Every successful interaction is recorded in your digital logbook in the Profile tab.
F. Troubleshooting
"I'm talking but it's not recording": Ensure you have granted Microphone permissions in your iOS Settings.
"The AI doesn't understand me": Try to speak in a quiet environment. Use standard ICAO phraseology (e.g., "Alpha" instead of "A").
